Understanding Fees & Insurance
-
If you are not using insurance, federal law gives you the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy. Therapy fees are shared clearly up front, and payment is due after each session. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your estimate, you may dispute the bill. For questions or more information, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Couples therapy is generally not covered by insurance. Insurance companies typically require treatment to focus on an identified individual with a mental health diagnosis and to be medically necessary. Because couples therapy focuses on the relationship rather than one person’s diagnosis, it usually does not meet these requirements. Couples sessions are extended 55-minute sessions and are private-pay. This allows us to focus on your goals, including improving communication, rebuilding trust, and strengthening your relationship, without insurance restrictions.
